Problem
Multiple product teams were working on similar designs, which caused delays in the Agile product development. Before joining the team, there were user research case studies, and numerous changes were made to the design concepts developed by previous designers. This confusion resulted in a lack of clear design direction, leading to additional work and increased technical debt for the engineering team.
Goal
Our goal is to help designers and developers easily access UX and UI tools, promoting efficiency and consistency across teams aiming to to deliver quality interfaces quickly.

ESTABLISH DESIGN PRINCPLES

Brand Design Evaluation Assessment
A brand identity was established by a brand marketing agency. To align with the branding guidelines provided, I conducted a content accessibility audit to ensure the brand colors are accessible throughout the user experience for web and digital products..

Branding/Foundational Design System
We leverage Material Design as the foundation for building the design system. The foundations in the design system were chosen based on higher level components that would cascade throughout designs and be used for styling to maintain brand consistency amongst color, typography and icons,.
Establish UX/UI DESIGNS
Account Management Dashboard
The Account Management dashboard shows total Bid Assets won and held for payment while offering features to improve customer engagement and increase account value. As a design contributor, I provided high-fidelity mock-ups for the dashboard and product pages, which played a key role in enhancing the brand experience and identifying essential components needed for development.

I worked with the RB design team to create detailed mock-ups for the new home page, event page, and other product features. These mock-ups help identify components, patterns, and templates that can be organized in the component library repository.

Search Result States
Based on our research on how users search for information, I created a mock-up showcasing search results, search bar states, and interactions. This mock-up simplifies content discovery, displays item statuses, and refines results based on user preferences. The search feature is crucial for the new RB website and adheres to best design practices.

RESULTS
Overview
Initial role was to oversee the build of the Design System for Ritchie Bros products. Due to other client/account demands, I had an opportunity to create future state vision prototype ideas, foundational stage design system components to support for cross-functional account teams and UX lead on a variety of high-priority deliverables.
I learn to adapt to changes and switch gears to be a valuable team player to support design efforts to ensure we achieve success and client satisfaction to earn goodwill.
Team Feedback
Karhan was very receptive to the feedback provided and excelled on the RB account in helping shape the look and feel of the new feature work. His work was exceptionally helpful in shaping the next steps for what RB will be doing with its new website.
